Leisure Programs

ATLAS (Access To Leisure And Sport) helps people in the Mid West with disability connect, participate, and thrive through accessible programs, community support, and NDIS services.

At ATLAS, we believe everyone should have the chance to enjoy sport, recreation, and leisure in a safe, supportive environment.

We’ve been part of the Mid West community for decades, working with participants, families, and volunteers to break down barriers and create opportunities for inclusion.

Spinout
Wheelchair Basketball

The Spinout Wheelchair Basketball program run by ATLAS is a well-established and highly successful initiative that operates annually in Geraldton, Western Australia. It provides people with disabilities the opportunity to participate competitively in basketball alongside the broader community. ATLAS supports the program by providing wheelchair basketball equipment for hire, coaching, and education tailored to the needs of participants and organisers, helping to build skills and confidence.

Spinout Wheelchair Basketball contributes not only to physical activity but also fosters social connection, empowerment, and community inclusion for people with disabilities. It exemplifies ATLAS's mission of integrating individuals into mainstream sport and recreation environments, serving as a model for inclusive sport development in the region.

Beyond the Shores -ATLAS water sports program

Beyond the Shores includes our partnership with Geraldton Yacht Club, Champion Bay Surf Club and Ultimate Water Sports, and provides access to accessible sailing with accessible yachts and support staff, other water sports and activities include accessible kayaks, beach access equipment, stand-up paddle boards (or seated for those that need them), among other things.

ATLAS has a partnership with Champion Bay Surf Lifesaving Club to make the beach more accessible ALL year round.
In addition to a beach wheelchair and the blue-accessible beach matting, a beach walker is now available to anyone who needs a bit of extra support getting into the water.

ATLAS Outdoor Recreation opportunities empower people with disabilities to connect with nature, build skills, and enjoy inclusive outdoor adventures - from kayaking and adaptive cycling to hiking and snorkelling!

With expert support and adaptive equipment, the program can also include excursions to Kalbarri and the Abrolhos Islands, creating lasting pathways for lifelong participation and independence in the outdoors.

Inclusive sport opportunities provided for children and young people in our region are listed below.
